  • At its 67th Founder’s Day Banquet on September 2, 2025, the West Side Nut Club awarded thousands of dollars to nearly 60 local schools and various non-profit groups—supporting first responders and youth sports programs.  44 News

CRIME NEWS

  • An Evansville man, Raquavion Lamont Cooper, 23, was arrested Tuesday for robbing a clothing store and Chuck E. Cheese with a loaded gun on North Green River Road, and police recovered a Glock, over $2,400 and a bag of ammo—his hearing is set for Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Superior Court.  Courier & Press
  • An Evansville man, 23-year-old Raquavion Cooper, was arrested Tuesday night after he robbed Plato’s Closet and Chuck E. Cheese—he fired one shot at each store and took money from both before fleeing.  44 News
  • On Tuesday evening a man fired a gun and robbed Plato's Closet on North Green River Road and a nearby Chuck E. Cheese before police arrested Raquavion Cooper—he faces charges including armed robbery, pointing a firearm, resisting arrest and criminal recklessness while a second man was charged with assisting the crime.  44 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • A photo feature in Evansville looks back at August 2025 and shows images of local sports, community events, and cultural festivals—capturing scenes from National Night Out, town halls, and the Frog Follies. The collection highlights moments that brought residents together and charted the town’s lively summer spirit.  Courier & Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The University of Evansville has received nearly $200,000 from the National Science Foundation to create a Grants Development Office that will support faculty research and build local partnerships. The office will be set up over the next two years to expand research and boost regional innovation — creating new funding opportunities for students and faculty.  44 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • CenterPoint Energy announced that beginning at 7 a.m. on Sept. 10, Red Bank Road will be closed between Koring and Booker roads for a month to replace a natural gas transmission pipeline. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes until the closure ends at 6 p.m. on Oct. 8.  Courier & Press
  • The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles Evansville East branch is relocating to South Green River Road; its current branch will close after September 16th and the new location will open on September 19th from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The new branch will offer enhanced service—boosting customer stations from 14 to 18 and adding a BMV Connect Center with three self-service kiosks available 24/7 in English and Spanish—while customers may visit the North and West branches during the move.  44 News
