- ➤ The inaugural Longest Open House will take place on September 20th from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at 5100 Goldfinch Drive in the Goldfinch Cove neighborhood — the free event will feature themed activities like a scavenger hunt, lemonade sales and a backyard barbecue while raising funds and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Association. 44 News
- ➤ Holly’s House launched its Brave Boundaries program to help families keep kids safe online and offline through a new website—BraveBoundaries.org. The program builds on more than 13 years of prevention work and responds to rising child abuse cases by giving tools to children, parents, and educators. 44 News

- ➤ Evansville’s West Side Nut Club Fall Festival has been named the best festival in the nation by USA TODAY/10BEST Awards, marking its third win in a row. Scheduled from Oct. 6-11, the event draws over 200,000 people to Franklin Street—offering food, rides, and games to support local groups. Courier & Press
- ➤ The Riverside Historic District will host ghost walks on October 10 and 11 to bring Evansville's haunted past to life with local actors portraying famous spirits—tours depart every 20 minutes from 6:00-9:00 p.m. and proceeds will benefit local historic and arts groups. 44 News
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Volunteers from Amcor and Evansville Water and Sewer Utility will clean the Ohio River banks on Saturday, September 20 at 8:30 a.m. as part of World Cleanup Day. The public can join by signing a waiver and attending a safety briefing at the Utility building at 1200 Waterworks Road. 44 News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ INDOT officials announced that westbound lanes near Red Bank Road on the Lloyd Expressway reopened with new markings and drivers were advised to follow updated signs — eastbound traffic will shift to westbound lanes on or after Saturday, September 20th when a barrier wall is installed. This change marks a step to improve lane flow and enhance safety. 44 News
- ➤ Indiana BMV now offers over 140 license plate designs for vehicles, including the new blackout plate rolled out last month with a $45 Admin Fee—residents may also select college, military, and organization plates online, at kiosks, or in person. Courier & Press
- ➤ The Indiana Statewide Independent Living Council will host a disability town hall in Evansville on Tuesday, Sept 23 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the DoubleTree by Hilton, 601 Walnut St. Panelists including Mayor Stephanie Terry, Rep.
