- ➤ Local McDonald's restaurants in Evansville began the Side of Support campaign on Sept. 22 and will donate 10% of a la carte fry sales to the Tri-State Food Bank through Sept. 26. This effort supports food-insecure households across 33 counties in our region. 44 News

- ➤ Officer Sam Taylor was shot in the line of duty by an 18-year-old suspect in Evansville and is recovering—local FOP Lodge is collecting donations to help cover his medical expenses and family support needs. 44 News
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Comedian Jeff Dunham, known for his ventriloquism — featuring characters Achmed the Dead Terrorist and Peanut, will perform at the Ford Center in Evansville on February 25th and tickets begin selling Monday, September 29th at 10 a.m. 44 News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ NASA announced its new astronaut class when Indiana native Yuri Kubo, a Purdue graduate, was chosen from over 8,000 applicants at a Sept. 22 ceremony. He will begin a two-year training program to prepare for missions that could send him to the moon or Mars & drive future space exploration efforts. Courier & Press

- ➤ Jasper Maurer from Evansville, a young patient (diagnosed with a rare adrenal disorder), was honored as the Honorary Fever Ball Kid at an Indiana Fever home game held at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at Ascension St. Vincent. He enjoyed courtside access and met Fever star Lexie Hull when his story was shared at halftime. 44 News
- ➤ Since the start of 2025, Warrick County has had three infant deaths caused by unsafe sleep practices—tripling past cases and making unsafe sleep the main preventable cause of death among children. Local health officials urge families to follow the ABCs of safe sleep and are offering free Pack-n-Plays to help keep babies safe. 44 News
