- ➤ Evansville will hold a two-hour public meeting on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Central Library Browning Event Room to discuss moving city elections to even-numbered years to save money and boost voter turnout—state officials will gather public comments and data and file a report for the Legislature by Nov. 1. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Vanderburgh County Coroner Bryan Underwood warned that sharing sleep surfaces or using extra covers puts babies at risk of unsafe sleep deaths—data shows 59.5% of such deaths involve sleeping with adults. He noted that while his county has not seen an infant sleep death so far this year, neighboring Warrick County reported three cases and urged parents to let infants sleep alone in safety-approved cribs. - ➤ The IHSAA announced tonight at 6 p.m. CT the sectional pairings for high school girls soccer teams in Southwestern Indiana—games start Tuesday, Oct. 7 with championships on Oct. 11, and Evansville-area schools will get start times soon. Courier & Press
