CULTURE NEWS

  • Evansville’s West Side Nut Club Fall Festival—rated top nationwide by USA TODAY—will take place Oct. 6-11 with parades, carnival rides, live music and food booths on Franklin Street, and it may offer a raffle where someone can win up to $1M. Family Day is set for Oct. 5 with children's rides starting at 1 p.m.  Courier & Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Mayor Stephanie Terry invites community organizations and service providers to submit proposals for funding from Evansville’s Opioid Settlement Fund to support programs that address the opioid crisis. Proposals must follow Johns Hopkins recommendations—each request should include funding details, program description, impact, and a sustainability plan—and be submitted by midnight October 28.  44 News
  • The Cross Pointe Boulevard section south of the Lloyd will close for about four days starting today as crews install a new box culvert to manage water flow; drivers can reach nearby businesses using alternate routes via Lincoln Avenue and Fuquay Road—where the intersection is converted into a three-way stop.  Courier & Press

SPORTS NEWS

  • The OVC Board of Presidents announced that the men’s and women’s basketball championships will stay at the Ford Center through 2032—this new deal continues a partnership that began in 2018. The men’s tournament will be held for the 63rd time next year while the women’s contest marks its 46th edition.  44 News
  • The Ohio Valley Conference announced Monday that its men's and women's basketball tournaments will continue at Ford Center in Evansville through 2032—extending the partnership that began in 2018.  Courier & Press
