On Wednesday morning, hundreds of Evansville children with special needs began the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival early on West Franklin Street to reduce crowds and noise.
They enjoyed free rides, games and visits from characters like Elmo, Chase and Mickey Mouse—funded by donations and volunteers.
The West Side Nut Club Fall Festival Half Pot has raised $983,830 as of 1:50 p.m. Wednesday from Franklin Street and online sales and could reach $2 million if it follows last year’s record—tickets are sold at different rates and the winner will be announced at 7 p.m. on Oct.
