  • The West Side Nut Club Fall Festival Half Pot has raised $983,830 as of 1:50 p.m. Wednesday from Franklin Street and online sales and could reach $2 million if it follows last year’s record—tickets are sold at different rates and the winner will be announced at 7 p.m. on Oct. 12 online.  Courier & Press
  • Menards is accepting food donations for a local pantry until Oct. 31 in a drive to help fight hunger in the community. Shoppers drop off nonperishable items like cereal and soup at collection boxes near exit doors – a simple way to support neighbors in need.  Courier & Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Evansville Fire Department highlighted the risks of lithium-ion batteries during Fire Prevention Week today, with Deputy Fire Chief Kim Garrett warning that damaged or overheated batteries in phones and power tools can cause danger if not charged properly.
