- ➤ Boo at the Zoo will return this weekend at Mesker Park Zoo—running from October 17th to 19th—and will offer Halloween-decorated paths, animal encounters and trick-or-treat options for families. 44 News
- ➤ Evansville Animal Control officers rescued a dog named Venom that was stuck in tar and is now recovering at the EACC facility (Director Missy Mosby commended Officers McDowell and Pavlicheck for their quick and brave efforts). 44 News
- ➤ The Vanderburgh Humane Society mourned the loss of Ty — a famous orange cat known as Thicken Nugget who became an internet sensation with his swimming routine and gentle nature. The shelter thanked his adoptive family and said his memory would inspire their ongoing efforts to save more animals. 44 News
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Multi-platinum jazz artist Diana Krall will perform on February 3 at 7 p.m. at Victory Theatre at 600 Main Street in downtown Evansville next year—tickets will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. Courier & Press
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Missy Mosby is set to become the new director of Evansville Animal Care and Control (ACC) and will focus on team building, community engagement, and creating a food pantry to help families. She was named after concerns raised at a Traveling City Hall on January 15 and will start on October 27th (next week) as the agency seeks to boost volunteer opportunities and promote animal adoptions. 44 News
- ➤ The Indiana Department of Transportation announced lane closures for I-69 in Gibson County near Mackey and Glezen between State Road 168 and State Road 57 to allow road paving beginning October 20 and likely lasting through the end of November—INDOT advises drivers to slow down and use extra caution around work zones. 44 News
