- ➤ The Evansville Rescue Mission has announced sign-ups for the 2025 Gobbler Gathering, with registration held from October 20 to October 23 at Washington Square Mall in the hallway outside The Thrift Store from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Residents must show a photo ID and proof of address to register for a Thanksgiving food box scheduled for distribution in November — a long-standing holiday support tradition. 44 News
- ➤ Mickey's Kingdom on Evansville's riverfront remains closed for maintenance as crews remove the old playground surface. The new surface will be installed early next week—officials warn visitors to stay behind barricades until work is complete. 44 News
- ➤ On Friday, PAAWS presented Looga—a two-year-old pit bull and bulldog mix who is friendly with kids and other pets—and volunteers said Looga is well behaved, loves cuddles, and adapts easily to family life. 44 News
- ➤ Expressway Auto Mall's First-Annual Trunk-or-Treat event is happening today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 3900 Highway 62 East in Mount Vernon—organizers moved the start time to keep bad weather away, and the event will include games, prizes, and a costume contest. 44 News

- ➤ Friday night high school football games on Oct. 17th featured matchups in Evansville and across Indiana, showing a wide range of scores. Evansville teams posted varied results, with Evansville North beating Evansville Central 47-7 and other schools recording scores from single digits to high numbers. Courier & Press
- ➤ Memorial football finished its undefeated regular season with a 37 to 7 win at Castle on October 17 — a victory that gave the team a nine win zero loss record — and now they are preparing for the playoffs. Coach John Hurley said the team worked hard during summer practice and is focused on readying themselves for upcoming games. Courier & Press
