- ➤ After 64 years, a 1961 class ring lost by Paul O’Neil Gottman while swimming at Lincoln State Park was found by treasure hunter Brian Hanson when the lake was drained for dam work — a Facebook post quickly led to its return and Gottman said he will be buried wearing it. 14 News
- ➤ Honor Flight of Southern Indiana will take veterans to Washington, D.C.—departing at 6:05 a.m. and returning around 7:45 p.m.—with a welcome home parade beginning at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Evansville Regional Airport. Courier & Press

- ➤ Funeral arrangements for 24-year-old Dylan Coston, who died from carbon monoxide exposure while working at a home in Fort Branch, are set with a Celebration of Life scheduled for today at 11 a.m. at Vertical Church—visitation is Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and again Wednesday from 10 until the service, and burial will follow at Blyth Chapel Cemetery while contractor Faith Brown from Evansville remains in serious but stable condition. 44 News

- ➤ Toys 'R' Us announced on Oct 16 that it will open more than 30 new U.S. stores for the holiday season—eight permanent flagship locations and over 20 seasonal shops, including one at Eastland Mall in Evansville. The retailer said additional openings will be announced throughout 2025 to boost its holiday sales. Courier & Press

- ➤ Mater Dei and Reitz Memorial High Schools have launched capital campaigns to improve Catholic education in the Diocese—Reitz Memorial’s Centennial Campaign targets $12 million with a public event today at the DoubleTree, and Mater Dei’s Growing in Grace campaign aims to raise $17.5 million for new facilities and academic innovation. 44 News

- ➤ The Indiana Department of Natural Resources will award over $450,000 in USDA-funded grants to rural and volunteer fire departments in the Tri-State, with each department eligible for up to $5,000 for safety upgrades, training, and needed materials. Grant recipients include Dubois Volunteer Fire Department, Haysville Community Volunteer Fire Department, Ireland-Madison Township Volunteer Fire Department, Schnellville Volunteer Fire Department, St. Anthony Fire Department, Central Perry Volunteer Fire Department, Petersburg Fire Department, Jefferson Township Fire Department, Chrisney Volunteer Fire Department, and Perry Township Fire Department. 14 News

- ➤ Evansville residents can safely dispose of unused or expired medications on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the ISP Evansville post at 19411 U.S. 41 North + the event is part of a nationwide effort to reduce accidental poisonings, addiction and theft attempts. Courier & Press

- ➤ The Evansville Thunderbolts will raise their championship banner at their home opener on Saturday night at the Ford Center as they celebrate their SPHL title. At the event, the first 4,000 fans will receive a miniature replica banner + a Party on the Plaza with music, games and food trucks from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. 44 News
- ➤ Evansville native Don Mattingly helped the Toronto Blue Jays reach the World Series after they beat the Seattle Mariners in game seven on Monday—marking their first World Series appearance since 1993. The Blue Jays will host the Los Angeles Dodgers in the opening game on Friday. 14 News
