  • Yesterday, over 60 veterans returned from an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. and were honored at a welcome home parade at Evansville Regional Airport—buses from Anchor Industries transported guests starting at 6:30 p.m., the plane arrived at 7:45 p.m., and the parade began at 8:30 p.m.  44 News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Today, Evansville's Indiana State Police joined the national Prescription Drug Take Back Day by collecting unused medications at its regional post—this effort aims to prevent drug abuse and theft.  14 News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Three southwestern Indiana volleyball teams won IHSAA regional championships this weekend. Castle beat Bloomington South on Oct. 25 and will play Plainfield in semistate on Nov. 1 (Jasper won a five-set match over Greensburg and Barr-Reeve defeated Tecumseh to claim its title), with each team set to advance further.  Courier & Press
  • Southwestern Indiana high school runners advanced from the IHSAA cross country regional held Saturday, Oct. 25 at Angel Mounds to earn a spot at the state finals in Terre Haute next weekend. Columbus North won the boys’ regional while Bloomington South secured the girls’ title — individual champions were Calvin Seitz at 14:53.5 and Lexi Kollbaum at 17:32.7.  Courier & Press
