COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Evansville-based organization Young and Established replaced books with food in community resource boxes to help families in need — they are asking neighbors to share addresses so more boxes can be filled. The group will hold its next food giveaway every Wednesday from 12 to 1 p.m. at the Y and E Community Center at 1308 Vann Avenue — an effort aimed at easing local hardships.  44 News
  • On November 6, 2005, a tornado hit Evansville—killing 25 people from Eastbrook Mobile Home Park and nearby areas—and the event deeply affected local families. Neighbors continue to remember the victims whose lives were cut short by the sudden storm.  Courier & Press
  • Feed Evansville held its 3rd annual Longest Table event with over 500 people including Mayor Stephanie Terry and volunteers serving food to residents affected by lost SNAP benefits and food insecurity. On November 9 — the group will host a grocery store event where EBT cardholders receive vouchers and community members can pick up a food share.  14 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Chicago the Musical will bring Broadway style music and dance to Evansville at the Old National Events Plaza on January 5th, 2026—tickets are available for purchase now.  14 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Several school bands from the Tri-State—including the Castle Knights, Jasper Wildcats, Reitz Panthers, North Huskies, Princeton Tigers, Mater Dei Wildcats, South Spencer Rebels, and Tell City Marching Marksmen—will fly to Indianapolis on Saturday to compete in state marching band finals. The finals take place at Lucas Oil Stadium and group bands by student enrollment with Class A for schools of 1800 or more students and Class D for schools with up to 550 students.  14 News
  • Evansville residents can vote for the best high school marching band from 15 area nominees, with nine set to perform at Lucas Oil Stadium on November 8 + the poll accepts unlimited votes until 10 a.m. CT on November 7.  Courier & Press

HEALTH NEWS

  • Today at Friedman Park in Newburgh, participants ran and walked 2-mile and 5-mile courses starting at 1 p.m. for the Stache Dache event to raise awareness for men's cancer—top finishers received awards and proceeds went to the American Cancer Society.  44 News
