COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ CenterPoint Energy will host five Community Connect events in November across southwestern Indiana — with events in Vanderburgh County on Nov.8 and in Evansville on Nov.13 — to offer local customers details about energy improvements and financial assistance programs. Courier & Press
- ➤ Evansville Rescue Mission held a news conference Monday to announce plans to help those affected by SNAP cuts by adding 200 Thanksgiving meal kit boxes to meet rising need. Officials said the total has grown from 2,300 to 2,500 boxes and meal times are being expanded—monetary donations are welcome to support the effort. 14 News
- ➤ The Downtown Evansville Improvement District began its eighth annual holiday decoration effort by closing the 200 Block of Main Street at 7 a.m. on November 3rd for archway decoration — it will install the Tunnel of Light with 13,930 bulbs on November 10th and add a new Spool of Lights with 18 oversized vintage bulbs, a Chandelier Tree, custom painted 12-foot nutcrackers, a 10-foot Christmas tree and Santa’s Mailbox. 44 News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ USI announced on Monday that a $34 million overhaul of the Wright Administration Building will begin with the demolition of 26,000 square feet on its north side—plans include adding a second story and glass facade for senior offices and forum lecture halls. State capital funding from the 2023-25 budget will pay for the work, which is expected to finish in 2027. Courier & Press

- ➤ The Indiana Department of Transportation warns drivers that one lane on State Road 168 near Mackey will be closed for a month starting on or around Wednesday as crews perform pipe lining work and use a temporary traffic light to manage traffic (project duration may change with weather). 14 News
- ➤ Evansville Water and Sewer Utility officials are asking the utility board to suspend shutoffs, liens, and late fees for 90 days beginning today—this proposal is meant to assist residential customers who may face SNAP benefit delays amid the federal government shutdown. Officials said the measure will be reviewed to provide needed support during ongoing government delays—ensuring relief for those impacted. 44 News
- ➤ Sunset Skatepark on the downtown Evansville riverfront is closed for resurfacing work—from Monday, Nov. 3 to Friday, Nov. 11—and will reopen next weekend. 44 News

- ➤ Evansville native Don Mattingly is being considered for the National Baseball Hall of Fame’s Class of 2026 by the Contemporary Baseball Era Committee—he played 14 seasons with the Yankees and most recently served as bench coach for the Blue Jays during a World Series run. 14 News
