- ➤ Evansville’s Salvation Army offers free meals at Sally’s Kitchen, serving over 1,000 hot lunches weekly—helping families cope as SNAP benefits drop—and supports more than 80 families via its food pantry amid rising need. 14 News
- ➤ CenterPoint Energy will host five Community Connect events to listen to public feedback and share plans for local energy improvements in the Tri-State region. The first meeting is on Thursday, Nov. 6 at South Spencer High School in Spencer County—other events are scheduled for Nov. 8 at Vanderburgh County 4H Fairgrounds, Nov. 12 at Mount Vernon Junior High School, Nov. 13 at CK Newsome Community Center in Evansville, and Nov. 15 at Ohio Township Phoenix Event Center. 14 News
- ➤ On Saturday, November 8, the Evansville Wartime Museum will join the Four Freedoms Veterans Day Parade along Franklin Street downtown — a key tribute to veterans — and it will host a complimentary Veterans Day Breakfast on Tuesday, November 11 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at 7503 Petersburg Road. 14 News
- ➤ Lic's Ice Cream is set to celebrate its 75th anniversary on November 15th at its 5th Street location—offering a free family event with a classic car show, live music by Andy Brashear, door prizes, and special pricing on treats. 44 News
- ➤ The Ronald McDonald House is partnering with Culiver Cultivations to set up a garden with kale, lettuce, and other vegetables requested by residents; three garden beds will be planted and cared for over the next year (a ribbon cutting is scheduled for later this month). 14 News

- ➤ Toys ‘R’ Us opened inside Eastland Mall near center court (announced last month) and now welcomes local families to shop for toys (a long-awaited return that many kids hoped for). 14 News
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Vanderburgh Humane Society will host its 39th annual Pet Pictures with Santa event at the Washington Square Mall food court this weekend—participants will pay $30 for two digital photos and must keep pets leashed or in carriers. Kids and adults can join in and include group shots featuring more than one animal. 14 News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The University of Southern Indiana will begin a $34 million renovation and expansion of the Byron C. Wright Administration Building, starting with the demolition of 26,000 square feet on the north side for a new two-story glass addition — the south side will undergo updates to add modern office and collaborative spaces with critical infrastructure improvements, and the project is expected to finish in 2027. 44 News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Evansville Regional Airport is hosting a TSA PreCheck event at the south end of the terminal inside the ticketing entrance to offer travelers a faster security screening process — appointments can be made on TSA’s website and the event runs Tuesday through Friday. 14 News
- ➤ The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration said no new childcare vouchers will be issued until 2027 — current voucher holders remain safe. Over 30,000 children now wait for vouchers after funding cuts and reduced reimbursements led to 44 daycares closing, raising fears that many kids will be left unsupervised. 44 News

- ➤ The Courier & Press has launched a vote for preseason high school girls basketball Player of the Year with 21 nominees from across the region, and fans may vote as often as they want through Sunday at 12 p.m. CT — the vote is for pure bragging rights and does not affect end-of-season selections.
