  • Great Clips salons in Evansville will offer free haircuts to veterans and active military service members on Veterans Day, marking the 13th year of the promotion. Non-military customers can visit a local salon to get a haircut and receive a free haircut card+ the event honors military service.  14 News
  • Last Thursday, Nov. 6, residents gathered at First Christian Church in Newburgh to remember the tornado victims, survivors and first responders from Nov. 6, 2005. Community leaders—including local officials and retired first responders—spoke and led prayers in honor of the tragic event.  Courier & Press
  • Evansville Regional Airport is launching its first-ever Kindness Week today with a 2nd Saturday Stories event in partnership with Evansville-Vanderburgh Public Library and We Are All Philanthropists. The week will run from November 10 to 14 and will include Kindness Walls, therapy-dog visits and nonprofit features (inspired by Breeze Airways' World Kindness Day celebration).  44 News
  • The intersection of Boonville New Harmony and Petersburg is now open after a four-month closure that forced drivers to use detours in business parking lots and neighborhoods. Neighbors say the detours—causing near accidents—were confusing, yet many are pleased with the widened roads and added turn lanes.  14 News
  • Today, Evansville is hosting the Four Freedoms Veterans Parade along West Franklin Street at 2 p.m.—the Evansville Wartime Museum is among those paying tribute to service members across generations.  14 News
  • Evansville’s Mickey’s Kingdom Park will reopen tomorrow morning after crews replaced the ground surface and installed new playground equipment — repairs delayed the reopening several times since early October.  14 News
  • Evansville Animal Care and Control has launched a pet food bank to help pet owners during a pause in food assistance benefits—families can drop off donated pet supplies on Uhlhorn Street to keep their pets fed.  14 News
  • Select McDonald’s restaurants in Evansville will offer a free breakfast to retired and active-duty military on Veterans Day. Veterans will receive one free combo meal — including a hash brown and a medium drink — during breakfast hours at participating locations.  14 News
  • Today the Evansville Housing Authority hosted a community resource fair at the CK Newsome Center where about 50 vendors offered housing, food and education assistance and provided free bus rides, door prizes and hot food to hundreds of residents—addressing rising local needs amid SNAP uncertainty. Organizers said the event was needed to help those facing hard decisions.  14 News

  • Four Corners is a new thrift store furniture warehouse at Washington Square Mall. The store is a partnership between the Evansville Rescue Mission and the Southwest Indiana Association of Realtors — it offers used couches, chairs, beds and more and aims to repurpose unwanted furniture for those who need it.  14 News

  • Four Evansville-area teams competed in the Southwestern Indiana sectional championships on Nov. 7, with Mater Dei holding a 14 to 3 lead over Gibson Southern at the 5:28 second quarter. North played Floyd Central, Heritage Hills faced Jasper and Providence met North Daviess — live updates tracked the games throughout.  Courier & Press
  • Gibson Southern came from behind to beat Mater Dei 17—14 and win the Class 3A sectional championship at Reitz Bowl. The Titans will host Indian Creek in the regional round on November 14.  Courier & Press
