COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Today, the annual Four Freedoms Veterans Parade marched down Franklin Street starting at 2:00 p.m. and honored past and present service members with local veteran groups, first responders, and community organizations; veterans expressed pride—saying the event reflects a long-standing Tri-State tradition.  14 News
  • The Evansville Rescue Mission held its 14th annual Drumstick Dash 5K at Washington Square Mall parking lot this morning to support the Gobbler Gathering, which will deliver 2,500 food boxes with Thanksgiving meals for more than 10,000 locals. Tracy Gorman, the mission’s President/CEO, said the run brings the community together to help those in need—encouraging everyone to move their feet so others can eat.  44 News
  • Today, local groups hosted the third annual Horses for Heroes Day of Appreciation at the Rolling Hills Equestrian Center in Henderson to honor first responders, veterans, and their families. The free event featured hayrides, kids' games, and time with horses and was organized by the Center, Healing Reins of Kentucky & Henderson County Public Library.  14 News

CRIME NEWS

  • Evansville Animal Care and Control was closed Saturday after an overnight break-in in which one dog was taken — officials confirmed that staff and other animals remain safe and that the facility will reopen Monday.  14 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • North High School's Green Brigade took first place in Class B at the ISSMA state finals Saturday in Indianapolis—earning the band its second state title in three years with their show I See You.  Courier & Press

SPORTS NEWS

  • Barr-Reeve volleyball beat Benton Central in a five-set match at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Nov. 8 to win its fourth state championship—tying for ninth all-time in IHSAA history. The team came back after a slow start and built a five-point lead in the final set as coach Tyler Schultheis said the players fought hard to claim the title.  Courier & Press
