COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Young and Established provided a free chili meal at their Vann Avenue facility—offering warm chili, cookies and snacks to neighbors facing tough times despite bad weather. The nonprofit, which held a rib dinner last month and hosts food giveaways every Wednesday—will share turkeys before Thanksgiving. 14 News
- ➤ Evansville Regional Airport is launching its first Kindness Week from today to November 14 to spread kindness with events such as kindness walls and visits from its therapy-dog team—local nonprofits like the Evansville Police Foundation and Honor Flight of Southern Indiana will join daily activities. 14 News
- ➤ Cookie Plug on West Franklin Street held its ‘Oh Snap’ food giveaway on Sunday, handing out 1,000 tacos, cookies and lemon shakeups as a thank you to locals struggling with SNAP—owner Erik Martinez, who moved here from SoCal in 2023, said another event will be held in December. 14 News
- ➤ The Lynnville Fire Department and Police Department will host a Benefit Dinner on November 22 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Lynnville Fire Department Station to support Officer Taylor, who was injured in the line of duty. Guests will enjoy a home-cooked pork chop dinner and a live auction starting at 5 p.m. — donations for both events will be accepted until November 21 — to help with his medical care and living expenses. 44 News

- ➤ R’z Café & Catering in Fort Branch will be filmed for America’s Best Restaurants Roadshow on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.—the episode will feature popular dishes such as Chicken Florentine, rib-eye, and hand-breaded mushrooms along with improvements by the new owners. 14 News
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Dick Engbers, the first full-time artistic director of Evansville Civic Theatre, died recently. He began his work in 1965 and helped change the theatre into what it is today — his work still guides local shows. 44 News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Evansville Water and Sewer Utility announced that eastbound Diamond Avenue from the Highway 41 ramp to Hercules Avenue will close on Monday, November 17 for a sewer lining project. A detour will guide traffic on Highway 41—Morgan—Weinbach—Diamond and the closure will end on Friday, November 21 while northbound access and westbound traffic remain open. 14 News
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Data from Realtor.com showed that home sale prices in Vanderburgh County jumped to a median of $222,961 in August—up 11.5% from July and 18.9% from last August. Single-family homes sold at $225,750 and condominiums and townhomes sold at $166,250 among 337 recorded sales totaling $51.5 million. Courier & Press
