COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Evansville police said the Evansville Area Jeepers Backs the Blue Ride will begin today at 11 a.m. at Evansville North High School to raise funds for Cops Connecting with Kids—its route will follow Baseline Rd to I-69 and end at Audubon Chrysler Center in Henderson around 11:45 a.m.  14 News
  • Suzy Blesch, the original owner of Nick Nackery founded in 1985 at the corner of Virginia Street and Heidlebach Avenue, passed away — the store has been run by Dan Bean and Jana Bean since 2021 and remains a part of Evansville’s history.  44 News
  • A benefit hockey game is being held today at Swonder Ice Arena to raise funds for Evansville Police Officer Sam Taylor — who was shot in line of duty in September and is now in rehab in Atlanta — with doors opening at 6:00 p.m. and the puck dropping at 7:00 p.m.  14 News

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Harold Dover, owner of the Niagara house that exploded on October 25 due to a gas leak, said his furnace blew up on him while he rescued his girlfriend and six-year-old daughter, spending three weeks in a burn unit—doctors said full recovery will take two years.  14 News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Made In Cookware announced its biggest Black Friday sale, offering up to 30% off cookware, knives and free gifts — including Dutch ovens and butcher blocks — and the sale runs through December 7. Evansville shoppers looking for chef-approved kitchen upgrades can find deals on stainless steel frying pans, carbon steel woks and nonstick pans during this event.  Courier & Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • Country singer Parker McCollum has announced his Evansville show for the second leg of his 2026 tour at Ford Center on September 19, 2026. Tickets will go on sale November 21 at the center's ticket office and at Ticketmaster.com.  14 News
  • Ballet Indiana will perform The Nutcracker at Victory Theatre on December 13 at 7:00 p.m. and December 14 at 2:00 p.m.—Artistic Director Kerri Lambert leads a festive production featuring young local dancers and renowned guest artists with a live orchestra to add a dynamic musical element. The performance aims to offer the community a magical holiday ballet experience.  44 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • University of Evansville officials announced a new partnership with Riley Children’s Health and IU School of Medicine to expand mental health training—launching a Psychology Practicum and an Annual Psychology Symposium that will give Doctor of Psychology students valuable clinical experience while addressing a growing need for children’s mental health services.  14 News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • City officials from the Evansville Department of Urban Forestry plus community groups like the Evansville Forest Alliance, Evansville Tree Advisory Board, Solid Waste District, and Evansville Parks & Recreation have asked for volunteers to plant over 300 trees to provide shade, clean air, and reduce storm water runoff. About 200 trees will be planted today at Deaconess Sports Park + Goebel Soccer Complex at 9:00 a.m. and a second event will be held on November 22 at Evansville State Hospital where volunteers should bring post hole diggers and gloves.  14 News

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Hopkins County Health Department warned that whooping cough cases increased in the area as eight children tested positive in the past two months—seven of whom were not vaccinated—and nearly a dozen school children in Lexington also tested positive. Officials explained that the illness spreads from the start of symptoms to over two weeks later and cautioned that it can worsen during colder months.  14 News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Heritage Hills beat Martinsville on November 14 by 35 to 19 and won its third regional title with star quarterback Jett Goldsberry scoring four touchdowns and running for more than 300 yards. The team will face Roncalli in the 4A semi state on November 21 at 7 p.m. CT.  Courier & Press
  • At a college basketball game on November 7 at Ford Center, Purple Aces player Trent Hudley hit a three pointer that sparked wild cheers among student fans—his shot lifted the team's score to 67 before they later won 92 to 50. The exciting moment showed how Gen Alpha fans embraced the play as a highlight of the game.  Courier & Press
  • Today, Angel Mounds hosted its last competitive event during the NCAA Great Lakes Region Championships as the UE and USI cross country teams raced in their first-ever Division I matchup. Thirty-five teams from four states ran two races—the women’s 6K and the men’s 10K—drawing over 550 runners and 1000 fans to the historic site.  14 News
