COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Santa's Workshop started on November 23 at noon at Hope City Church (1001 North Main Street) where families enjoyed crafts, treats, games and photos with Santa as part of the Christmas Parade preparation. Organized by the Jacobsville Area Community Corp, the event also offered downtown drop-off locations for Letters to Santa until December 15.  44 News
  • Evansville will host its annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony this Saturday evening -- residents will enjoy Small Business Saturday shopping and festive treats at 6:30 p.m., followed by live performances and the official tree lighting at 7:00 p.m. The event will feature hot chocolate and picture opportunities with Santa.  44 News
  • Evansville grocery store hours will be limited on Thanksgiving Day—Meijer will be open from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. while Walmart, Target, ALDI, Ruler, Schnucks, Costco, and Sam's Club will remain closed.  Courier & Press

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The federal government clarified that hemp products with more than 0.3 percent THC are now illegal, leaving Indiana’s hemp business uncertain while cannabis sales soar in nearby states. Illinois reported over $113.1 million, Michigan saw more than $267 million in October, and Ohio tallied $33 million, with Kentucky planning medicinal dispensaries soon—raising concerns over lost revenue.  Courier & Press
