  • After 14 years at Stockwell Road, It Takes A Village no kill rescue shelter announced it has secured a new building. The shelter will soon move to the Riecken’s Foot Comfort World building on Oak Grove Road — officials said additional details and dates will follow.  14 News
  • Logan’s Promise is offering discounted safe rides for Thanksgiving Eve with code 'Thanksgiving 2025' available from 8 p.m. Wednesday until 3 a.m. Saturday in Gibson, Posey, Vanderburgh and Warrick Counties—named in honor of teen Logan Brown killed in a drunk driving crash in 2015.  14 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Today, the Hadi Shrine Circus celebrates its 91st anniversary with a 5 p.m. show at the Ford Center in downtown Evansville—additional performances are set for Friday and Saturday with the final show on Sunday.  14 News
  • Ritzy’s Fantasy of Lights opens today at Garvin Park; the 32nd annual display features more than 90 animated exhibits that visitors can drive around to see & proceeds go to Easterseals Rehabilitation Center as the event runs until January 1.  14 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Students from the University of Southern Indiana Center for Applied Research installed a new drop hammer at the Old Courthouse on Tuesday, Nov. 25 — restoring the 134-year-old bell's chime after its original hammer broke in May. The bell now rings again in downtown Evansville.  Courier & Press
  • Over 6,000 members of INPRS may be owed retirement benefits, and the agency has launched a secure database where visitors enter their name and birth date to check for a match—if a match is found, instructions to claim the funds will appear.  Courier & Press
  • The Evansville Fire Department conducted a training drill by using an old school bus placed at a steep angle to mimic a dangerous bridge rescue following a dramatic incident in Louisville—officials say the exercise prepares firefighters for water emergencies. The drill shows the department’s commitment to staying ready for unexpected calls.  14 News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Boar’s Head and Locatelli cheese products sold at Kroger stores in Indiana and Kentucky were recalled after the FDA flagged potential listeria contamination from cheese made by Ambriola Company on November 24—customers should discard recalled items including prepackaged deli salads, wraps and a 6 oz container of grated pecorino Romano, with no illnesses reported.  Courier & Press
  • Cigarette use in Indiana dropped 40% in the three months since the tax hike took effect on July 1—enrollment in the Quit Now Indiana program rose nearly 40% as the state works to reduce smoking and its health risks.  Courier & Press
  • In Evansville, award-winning cookbook author Mairlyn Smith recommends taking a ten to twenty minute 'fart walk' within an hour after Thanksgiving dinner—this quick stroll can ease bloating, reduce acid reflux, and help control blood sugar spikes.  Courier & Press
