  • Winter weather is bringing wintry precipitation to parts of Illinois and Indiana and making roads slick, which raises the risk of crashes and slide-offs.   • Downtown Evansville saw strong support on Small Business Saturday as shoppers braved cold weather to support local vendors—business owners noted busy conditions and community unity with funds staying in the area.  14 News
  • Lic’s Deli & Ice Cream now serves breakfast at its Lincoln Avenue and 5th Street locations in Evansville and at sites in Newburgh, Owensboro and Vincennes—offering pastries, breakfast sandwiches, coffee and more. The change lets local customers start their day earlier than usual.  14 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On December 2, Mayor Stephanie Terry of Evansville, Mayor Charlie Wyatt of Boonville and Mayor Steve Loehr of Mount Vernon will ring bells at local Red Kettle sites—each aiming to raise at least $2,000 for The Salvation Army to support local ministries and programs. The Salvation Army hopes the event will become a tradition to benefit services in multiple counties.  44 News

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Data from Realtor.com shows that in October the median price for homes listed in Vanderburgh County fell to $210,750—a drop of 1.3% from last month and 5.1% lower than October last year. Homes averaged 1,568 square feet at $135 per square foot and stayed on the market for 46 days compared to a national median of 63 days.  Courier & Press

  • Rylee Canaan, a 6-foot junior forward committed to Butler, left the Memorial girls basketball program after the Tigers’ game against Planfield on Saturday—her father said the family will spend the weekend weighing options like a prep school or a local high school, as she struggled to fit in under the coaching staff.
