  • The Warrick Humane Society and Myriad Brewing are hosting Donuts With Santa on Saturday, Dec. 13 (8 a.m. to 11 a.m.) in Newburgh to raise funds for homeless pets with doughnuts, beverages, and holiday activities; tickets are $5 for kids and $10 for adults with VIP packages available.  44 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Red Bank Library will close on Dec.12 at 6 p.m. for demolition as part of a rebuild that will create a new (20,000 sqft) facility; residents can join an information session on Dec.11 to learn more about the project.  Courier & Press

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Indiana Department of Natural Resources closed the 2025-26 bobcat season on Dec. 6. Trappers may keep bobcats caught on that day, but any captured later must be released if able.  44 News

  • Author Justin Chase urges the Evansville community to secure a 24-hour emergency veterinary hospital as local pet owners are forced to drive long distances during after-hours emergencies. REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • New Realtor.com data shows that the median home sale price in Vanderburgh County dropped 4.1% from $222,961 in August to $213,750 in September, though prices are up 14.7% from last year. Single-family homes fell 5.3% while condos and townhomes rose 25.6%.  Courier & Press

  • Don Mattingly, an Evansville native, missed a spot in the Baseball Hall of Fame on Dec. 7 after receiving only 6 votes from the 16-member Contemporary Baseball Era Committee & needed 12 to qualify.  Courier & Press
  • Residents can now vote for the Courier and Press high school Athlete of the Week for Dec. 1 to 6 as standout performances from local teams are recognized. Votes can be cast repeatedly until 10 a.m. Friday morning—ensuring every fan has a say.  Courier & Press
