FINANCE NEWS

  • After no ticket won on Dec. 10, the Powerball jackpot grew to an estimated $1 billion (cash option: $461.3 million); Evansville locals will have another chance to play as the next drawing takes place Saturday, Dec. 13 at 11 p.m. ET.  Courier & Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office joined with the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute to launch the Safe Family Travel campaign for December to improve road safety — deputies will conduct sobriety checkpoints and patrols to reduce impaired driving and seat belt violations.  44 News
  • On Dec. 10, Indiana State Police hosted a ceremony at the state police museum in Evansville — the event welcomed new K-9 teams. Trooper Gage Cummings and his Dutch Shepherd partner Bane completed a 12-week training course with more than 480 hours of instruction.  44 News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Ascension St. Vincent Evansville awarded a $20,000 grant to Youth First to support mental health programs and substance misuse prevention at Mater Dei High School, home to 27 partner schools in the Catholic Diocese. The funding will expand services in local schools to help students thrive.  44 News
