COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Runners gear up for the 7th annual charity race at Harmonie State Park on Dec. 21 at 1:00 p.m. Participants choose a 12K or 5K and earn medals and cake while supporting the park's children's summer program—rain or shine, a makeup date is set for Dec. 28.  44 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Drivers on Evansville’s east side will face changes from Phase 2 construction; after this morning’s rush, westbound lanes at Burkhardt and Cross Pointe intersections will shift to the two outside lanes for at least six months while eastbound lanes convert after the new year (travelers should allow extra time).  44 News
  • Evansville officials announced rolling closures on U.S. 41 Tuesday through Friday to deliver 12 concrete beams for the I-69 Ohio River Crossing project. Closures will last five to 10 minutes between 1 and 4 p.m. and may change with weather (drivers should check message boards).  44 News
  • Between Oct. 1 and Dec. 8, Advantix filed 82 evictions in the RAD program + that is more than the 55 in all of 2024, prompting St. Paul’s United Church of Christ to ask city leaders to review the filings and pause new evictions until residents receive better support.  Courier & Press

  • Johnte Hawkins — a Bosse alumnus — has been named the new head football coach at Bosse High; his appointment was finalized at an EVSC board meeting on Dec. 15. He aims to rebuild the struggling program by reigniting community pride on the gridiron.  Courier & Press
  • The Valhalla Half Marathon and 5K will be held on June 7, 2026 at North Posey High School in Poseyville. Returning after an eight-year break, the race completes the Ultimate Fit series and includes a unique finisher medal (a six-inch Viking ship).  44 News
