ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • An EF1 tornado struck Gibson County Sunday evening near Cynthiana and Haubstadt, tracking 4.46 miles with winds reaching 100 mph and causing damage to barns and a few homes, with no injuries reported by the National Weather Service.  44 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Indiana Department of Transportation announced lane closures on I-64 near Ferdinand for pipe installation starting Jan. 5. The closures will affect eastbound passing lanes between the 70 and 71 mile markers and between the 72 and 73 mile markers, with work ending in late February and March—plan for delays.  44 News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Health officials confirmed a pediatric flu death in Kenton County as flu cases rise sharply in Indiana, Kentucky, and Illinois after the holidays — local doctors report Influenza A is spreading quickly and advise everyone to get a flu shot.  44 News

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Dec. 30, USA Today Network released its high school boys basketball poll in which Oak Hill (record 8 to 0) moved to No. 1 in Class 2A with 129 points, edging Parke Heritage’s 125 points, while rankings shifted in classes 4A, 3A, and 1A.  Courier & Press
